Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: nw then se Wind Stength: V light to 15 Surf / Sea State: flat Air Temperature: 20 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 18.95 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 25 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
With only light offshore wind forecast I was not holding out much hope of
getting out today :( but after breakfast at the cliff top and a walk to the
ferry and with abit of a nw breeze and the tide still coming in I decided
to go to Levington to sail to the Orwell bridge.I arrived at about 12.30
and because my favourite 9.4 is dead I had no option but to rig 8.5,so with
gps, phone, camera and snacks I head up river on the slow beat in the
sunshine.I made it to Pin mill and stopped on a pontoon out in the river
for lunch and to watch a barge moor, taking several pics. Then on to the
bridge where I took more pics right under the bridge !!! By this time the
wind had gone very light making the run back slow going luckily the tide
was now going out which was helping me .After an hour I had only made it
back to Pin Mill and was completely becalmed when the wind swung around to
se and increased :) I then beat to Felixstowe dock to see the huge
container ships then back to the van, where the tide had dropped and I had
to walk back through the mud !!! Still a great days sailing(over 5 hrs on
the water) and you don't have to be planning to have a good time !!! Also
Rob managed to get his kite going at the ferry for a 5 star session :)
